In the quarter final round of the NECC tournament, Central Noble and Lakeland were tied 1-1 going into the top of the 5th inning. Lakeland’s Kylee Palmer lead off the inning with a triple to left field. Makayla Mast steps up to the plate and lines a double to center scoring Palmer. Keirstin Roose singled to center, and scored Mast. Elise Edwards drew a hit by pitch. Kendall Moore singles down the left field line, and loads the bases. Bailey Hartsough sacrifice flies to center to score Roose from 3rd. At the end of the top of the 5th, Lakeland scored 3 runs, making the score 4-1. In the top of the 7th inning, the Lakers weren’t done scoring! Roose hit a lead off single. Roose steals second and third. Edwards hit a double to score Roose. Pinch runner Carlynn Olinger ran for Moore, attempted to steal second but was thrown out, but not before Edwards courtesy runner Sadie Edsall scored from 3rd on the throw to second. Elise Edwards threw a complete game, allowing just 3 hits, 1 run, 3 walks, and struck out 6. The offense was lead by Freshman Keirstin Roose, she went 3 for 4, with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. Palmer was 1 for 2, with a triple, 2 walks, and 1 run scored. Makayla Mast, Edwards, Moore, and Harris also added hits for the Lakers. The Lady Lakers advance to the NECC semi-final round at home against Garrett, on Thursday. With a start time of 5:30.
