  • All-time leader in assists in LHS boys’ basketball with 317 assists.

Drew Leer

  • 2002 graduate who participated in Football, Basketball, and Track.
  • Five time NECC All-Conference selection in three different sports.
  • All-time leading rusher in football with 5,678 yards.
  • 3rd all-time leading scorer in football with 382 points.
  • 2nd all-time single season rusher in football with 2020 yards.

Abby Neff

  • 2008 graduate who participated in Soccer, Basketball, and Track.
  • Five time NECC All-Conference selection in two different sports.
  • All-time leading scorer in LHS basketball with 1,541 points.
  • All-time leading scorer in LHS girls’ soccer with 61 goals.

Abigail Ramer

  • 1993 graduate who participated in Cross Country, Basketball, and Track.
  • Eight time NECC All-Conference selection in two different sports.
  • 3-time State Finalist in Cross Country.
  • 3-time State Finalist in Track.
  • Current school record holder in Cross Country (4000 Meters) and the 1600 Meter Run, the 1600 Meter Relay, and the 3200 Meter Relay in Track and Field.

Tina (McKowen) Sams

  • 1985 graduate who participated in Volleyball, Basketball, and Track.
  • Nine time NECC All-Conference selection in three different sports.
  • 2nd all-time leading scorer in LHS girls’ basketball with 1,193 points.
  • Finished 3rd  in the Long Jump at the IHSAA State Finals in 1984.
  • Current school record holder in the 100 Meter Dash, Long Jump, and the 400 Meter Relay in Track and Field.

Matt Stout

  • 1998 graduate who participated in Cross Country and Track.
  • Only Lakeland athlete ever to be named the IHSAA Mental Attitude Award winner.
  • Five time NECC All-Conference selection in two different sports.
  • Current school record holder in Cross Country and the 1600 Meter Run and the 3200 Meter Run in Track and Field.
  • Indiana All-Star in Cross Country.
  • 2-time State Finalist in Track and State Finalist in Cross Country.

Paul Vander Wiere

  • 1965 graduate who participated in Basketball and Golf at Lakeland High School.
  • Led our first basketball team to a 21-3 record and an IHSAA Sectional Championship.
  • Single season rebounding record holder in basketball with 408 rebounds.
  • Full athletic scholarship to Western Michigan where he played basketball.
  • Successful Teacher and Coach for 35 years in Three Rivers, Michigan.

Bill Leiter

  • Coached varsity boys’ basketball for 14 years and boys’ tennis for 5 years at LHS.
  • Career boys’ basketball coaching record of 196-123 at LHS.
  • Coached five IHSAA Sectional champion boys’ basketball teams at LHS.
  • Coached three teams to NECC regular season championships.
  • Coached three teams to NECC Tournament championships.
  • Coached 20 players in boys’ basketball who earned NECC All-Conference recognition.
  • Retired from Lakeland in 2006 after 40 years in education.

Sherry Severson

  • Coached varsity girls’ basketball for 18 years and varsity softball for 27 years at LHS.
  • Career record of 240-141 for girls’ basketball and 386-290 in softball at LHS.
  • Coached the only LHS team to ever win a IHSAA Regional championship in a team sport.
  • Coached two IHSAA Sectional champion girls’ basketball teams and five IHSAA Sectional champion softball teams at LHS.
  • Coached one softball team and three girls’ basketball teams to NECC regular season championships and three softball teams and six girls’ basketball teams to NECC Tournament championships.
  • Coached 77 players in softball and 31 players in girls’ basketball who earned NECC All- Conference recognition.
  • Coached 3 Indiana All-Stars in softball and in the 2013 Indiana North-South All-Star game.

John Storck

  • LHS Assistant Principal/Athletic Director for 31 years.
  • School won 16 NECC Boys’ All-Sports Championships during his 31 years as AD.
  • School won 34 IHSAA Boys Sectional Championships during his 31 years as AD.
  • LaGrange County Citizen of the Year in 1974.
